Flammulated Owl
Otus flammeolus
Synopsis:
Nests in tree cavities in suitable wooded areas of central and
northeastern Oregon. Most notable are the records from
the west slope of the Cascades, and an intriguing record (not confirmed) from
the Steens Mountain in Harney County.

Relative Detectability:
Quite difficult to detect due to its nocturnal habits, and
very difficult to confirm due to its nesting in tree
cavities.
Challenge:
Determine if species has disappeared from Josephine and Jackson
Counties. Improve knowledge of its distribution in
western Baker and southern Umatilla Counties
